Board Chair

Janet Barber

Janet Barber is an accomplished educator with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and a recognized leader in STEAM education. With extensive experience in mathematics instruction, curriculum development, and standardized testing, she is passionate about helping students build strong academic foundations and confidence in STEM subjects. Janet's expertise ensures that EEC's educational programs are data-driven, engaging, and aligned with high academic standards.

Vice Chair

Zanitha Dickerson Thomas

Zanitha Dickerson Thomas serves as a Dean of Students with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and brings a wealth of experience in student leadership, school culture, and educational administration. She also has extensive experience supporting Exceptional Children through Exceptional Children (EC) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) processes and holds a master's degree in educational leadership. Her passion for developing young leaders and creating supportive learning environments helps guide EEC's commitment to academic excellence and whole-child development.

Dr. Sean Thomas

Dr. Sean Thomas serves on the faculty at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is an expert in workforce development, career readiness, and higher education. His professional experience provides valuable insight into preparing students for success beyond the classroom by connecting education with career pathways, leadership development, and lifelong learning. Dr. Thomas helps ensure that EEC's programs equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed for future academic and professional success.

Whitney Anderson

Whitney Anderson is an Assistant Principal with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and an experienced instructional leader dedicated to student achievement and school improvement. Her expertise in educational leadership, teacher development, and school operations strengthens EEC's ability to design programs that support academic growth, positive youth development, and strong partnerships with schools and families.

Sabrina Walker

Sabrina Walker serves with the Council of the District of Columbia, where she has extensive experience managing complex government budgets and public financial operations. Her expertise in fiscal planning, budgeting, compliance, and financial stewardship ensures that EEC maintains sound financial practices while maximizing resources to support its mission. Sabrina's leadership helps the organization remain accountable, transparent, and well-positioned for sustainable growth.
